President - Job Description

The President is an elected (volunteer) officer bearer of ACT Walking for Pleasure Inc. (the “Club”) and has overall responsibility for the general operation of the Club.

The President is responsible to the Committee and the general membership for the proficient operation of the Club in accordance with its Constitution.

The President has a responsibility to represent the Club to the general public and at invited forums, both community and government based.

The President’s Duties and Responsibilities:
The President shall:

  • Promote the activities of the Club to the general membership and the general public.
  • Support the activities of the Committee members.
  • Manage Committee Meetings.
  • Manage the Annual General Meeting.,
  • Represent the Club at community and government levels.
  • Ensure that planning and budgeting for the future of the Club, is carried out in accordance with the wishes of the members.

The President’s Knowledge and Skills requisites:
The President ideally should be someone who:

  • Can communicate effectively.
  • Is positive and enthusiastic about the Club and all its activities.
  • Is aware of the future directions and plans of members and can lead the Committee through issues.
  • Has a good working knowledge of the Constitution, rules and the duties of all Office Holders.
  • Is a supportive leader for all the members of the Club.
  • Can arbitrate over any matters of dissent within the Club.

Estimated time commitment that the role requires:
The estimated time commitment required as President
of the Club is between 2 and 3 hours per week.

The President is elected for a 1-year term by the general membership.
